Carnival Cruise Line’s Exciting Addition: BOLT Roller Coaster Sets Sail

In honor of National Roller Coaster Day, Carnival Cruise Line is gearing up to introduce its third BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster, which is currently taking shape aboard the upcoming Carnival Jubilee ship. The excitement is building at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, where the 800-foot track for this incredible roller coaster is being meticulously installed on Deck 19. Completion of the installation is anticipated next month, with test runs scheduled for October. Once operational, the roller coaster will feature two all-electric, two-person cars, allowing riders to control speeds of up to 40 miles per hour as they embark on thrilling drops, twists, and turns 187 feet above the water’s surface.

BOLT stands as the centerpiece of the Ultimate Playground on Carnival’s remarkable Excel-class vessels, and it has already captivated the hearts of over 150,000 guests who have savored the exhilaration of being on the only roller coasters at sea, aboard Carnival Jubilee’s sister ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

Manufactured by Maurer Rides in Munich, Germany, BOLT made history in 2021 by becoming the first-ever roller coaster at sea when it debuted on the Mardi Gras. Its impressive performance has garnered rave reviews and earned several accolades, including an engineering award from Popular Science magazine.

Starting December 23, 2023, Carnival Jubilee will set sail year-round from Galveston, Texas, offering week-long Western Caribbean voyages with stops at sought-after destinations such as Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel, Mexico.
